Work/Educational Highlights
2008 – Worked on group project to design and implement a “Youth Services Resource” database for use by Youth Services staff as a clearinghouse of programming ideas and useful items. The Wiki is still used by staff to locate puppets, finger-play scripts, felt board pieces, songs and themes.
2011 – Researched, evaluated and implemented an audio archive project during graduate school internship with the Genealogy Center in Fort Wayne, IN. Applied basic archiving techniques to assess the collection of taped speeches, describe the content using Dublin Core standards, and digitize the audio for both delivery to users and long term storage. I created a published collection in the ACPL Community Album and documented the process in a blog.
2012 – Surveyed 10,000 item tape library to begin implementation of a large scale digital video file archive initiative. Evaluating current policies and suggested best practice procedures for proper records management. Started workgroup to connect the department manager, IT professionals and department programming director to facilitate project management.
2013- Working with Children’s Services to create content (graphic and video) for an Early Literacy family app that seeks to inform caregivers of young children how to use guided play to give babies and young children a head start on reading.
Currently- Developing a suite of programs for the library’s newly open MakerSpace. Topics include: Intro to Arduino, Robotics, CSS and HTML, DJ Cafe, Intro to 3D printing and Adobe Illustrator 101.
